ASDPS TIMPs Portal
The ASDSP Innovation portal is an online knowledge repository that provides a single access point for discovery, acquisition and sharing of information about innovations, technologies, and best practices. The repository offers an opportunity to promote participatory innovation development by the value chain actors by encouraging ‘VCA-led experimentation’ and the integration of farming communities into innovation systems. The idea is to foster knowledge sharing among value chain actors and other innovation actors, encouraging value chain actors to compare and share their experiences and to experiment more critically.
Banana FFS
The Kagaari Kyeni Gaturi irrigation CBO identified six group within the organization to implement the project through FFS approach. The 6 groups formed the farmer field school targeting at least 30 members per school. The irrigation covered 3 sub locations and each sub location had 2 field schools. The field aimed at the best variety that performed in the identified sub location so that the PTD was banana varietal testing on performance. The FFS was facilitated by trained facilitators who capacity built members on best technologies in banana production and pest and disease management. Farmers learned in the school and practiced in their farms.

Heat Impulse Sealer
An impulse sealer is a powered device that seals various types of plastic packaging, primarily flexible packaging like poly bags and stand up pouches. It utilizes an electrical impulse to heat a metal wire, melting a layer of plastic into another. The resulting permanent seal only breaks by cutting it open.

Indigenous Chicken Multiplication Center
The innovation entails identifying a group through proposal writing where indigenous chicken multiplication center would be established. A deep litter poultry wooden house measuring 18x5x10m and roofed with iron sheets with an adjacent feed storing store. The house has a concrete floor for ease of cleaning. The group was supported with four hundred and fifty KALRO kienyenji day old chick to rear for supply of fertilized eggs to the community and as a source of their own incubation.

Indigenous chicken Aggregation Center
The innovation consists of a stone walled structure roofed with iron sheets. it measures (18x6x10)m with twenty eight (28) wire meshed cages inside. The cages have a capacity of thirty (30) mature chicken each. They are meant to hold chicken during trading as well as what remains after trading.

The innovation consisted of a structure measuring 15mx8m covered with shade net. It has a capacity of 6000 seedling. The group was supplied with 6700 plantlets in two batches for a start.

Biogas
Installation of biogas in the rural livelihood is a Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) activity which significantly reduces methane and nitrous oxide emissions by anaerobic digestion of animal waste in the biogas digester. A biogas system comprises a large tank, or digester. Inside this tank, bacteria work symbiotically to convert organic waste into methane gas through the process of anaerobic digestion. Each day, the operator of a biogas system nourishes the bacteria inside the digester with household by-products such as manure from livestock. The methane gas produced by the bacteria inside biogas system may be used for cooking, lighting, and other energy needs.
The slurry from digester is rich in nutrients and is used to improve soil fertility for crops and fodder production.

Sexed Semen
Use of Sexed semen is a breeding technology which ensures a 95% success rate of achieving the desired sex of a calf (heifer). Innovative usage of sexed semen has a potential to help deliver appropriate cattle genotypes to farmers efficiently. Sexed semen could benefit cattle farmers through availability of cattle of preferred sex (female calves for dairy production) and better matching of genotype to farmers’ production conditions. This is aimed at upgrading the dairy cows by improved breeding programme of the dairy herd. The overall result will be improved dairy productivity.

Rhodes grass species is extremely adapted to a wide range of ecological conditions. Rhodes grass has a short growing season (4-6 months) and can yield 8 tonnes dry matter per year. The grass is highly palatable and has a CP content of 11%.
